Water is a Greenhouse Gas

The success of the global warming hoax is based on the lack of awareness by the general public of a few simple points. These points are as follows:
  1. Water is a greenhouse gas in the form of the humidity in the air that we complain about on muggy days. In fact, 95 percent of the greenhouse gas in the atmosphere is simply water.
  2. 97 percent of the carbon dioxide, the villain of the global warming hoaxers, is produced by non-human sources, primarily the oceans.
  3. The oceans absorb 20 times the carbon dioxide as humans and their machines produce.
  4. The rate of production and absorption of carbon dioxide by the oceans is controlled by Henry's Law, which simply states that cold water absorbs more atmospheric gases than warm water.
When the sun is going through a period of heavy storm activity, its radiation to the earth warms the climate and the earth's oceans. When the oceans warm, they produce more carbon dioxide into the atmosphere and absorb less. When the sun goes through a quiet period, the climate and the oceans cool, allowing less carbon dioxide to enter the atmosphere. Hence atmospheric carbon dioxide levels go up and down from the sun's causing of climate change.

Man-made Global Warming is Junk Science

The man-made global warming hysteria is based upon junk science. There is no more real science in the global warming hoax than there is in astrology, tarot cards, ouija boards, or other forms of fortune telling schemes.

Unlike real science, the warming hysteria  is based upon unproven assumptions, faulty computer models, and adjusted (that is, doctored) data.

Ninety-five percent of the greenhouse gas in our atmosphere is water vapor ("relative humidity"). Carbon dioxide, the villain of the warmists, makes up only 1 in every 2,500 molecules in our atmosphere and is far too small an amount to significantly influence our climate. Methane, produced by termites and farting cows, humans, and other animals, is 1 in every 500,000 molecules of our atmosphere.

Furthermore, the carbon dioxide that man produces in the atmosphere is only about five percent of that produced by the oceans. And carbon dioxide is constantly being withdrawn from our atmosphere by the oceans and the plants that feed us.

The global warming hysteria is just junk science perpetuated by knowing charlatans and their unknowing marks.

Why Our Climate Changes

The earth's climate ended its last warming phase in 1998 and the warming climate has since entered a “pause” and has even begun to cool. It should now be apparent that mankind has not had a material affect on the climate and the following reasons explain why:
  1. The so-called greenhouse gases are all natural materials and have existed at much higher levels in the past when primitive man had much lower levels of emission (even Neanderthals produced carbon dioxide, a greenhouse gas, by breathing).
  2. Of all the greenhouse gases water vapor is by far the most prevalent, comprising about 95 percent of all greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The remaining gases, including the much-maligned carbon dioxide, are considered trace gases and are insufficient to impact our climate.
  3. When gases, including the greenhouse gases, absorb heat they rise into the atmosphere by convection. As the gases rise, they give off their warmth and therefore reduce the impact on the earth's climate. The exception to this is water vapor. Water vapor precipitates into liquid water as it rises and cools and eventually falls back to earth as rain. The rain still has some of its absorbed heat and therefore, by returning to the earth, has the effect of keeping the earth warm. Carbon dioxide continues to rise and lose its heat. Water vapor is the only effective greenhouse gas.
  4. Carbon dioxide is not a form of pollution but, in fact, helps green plants to grow. Increased carbon dioxide means that plant life need less water to grow and farmers have better crops and fatter cattle. Carbon dioxide is an essential part of all life on earth.
  5. Very little of the carbon dioxide in our atmosphere is produced by mankind and our industries. The ocean is the primary source and sink of carbon dioxide and oxygen. The plant life in the ocean absorb carbon dioxide that exists in the water just as the fish breath oxygen that is trapped in the ocean. The oceans absorb twenty times as much carbon dioxide as mankind produces.
  6. Even if mankind produces a little carbon dioxide, the greater the amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, the greater the amount that is absorbed by the oceans. This is known as Henry's Law of gas absorption.
  7. Why then does the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere increase and decrease? Because the sun's radiation changes through cycles of heavier and lower sunspot activity. When the activity is high, the climate of the earth warms and eventually causes the oceans to warm. As any fisherman knows, warm water holds less oxygen and carbon dioxide than cooler water. This makes cold water better for fishing, since it contains more trapped gases and therefore more plant life and more fish. This is the second part of Henry's Law. Carbon dioxide does not cause global warming, but rather, global warming, caused by the sun, causes the oceans to absorb less carbon dioxide, leaving more in the atmosphere.
In summary, our climate has been much hotter before our modern industrialization. The climate warms because the sun occasionally becomes more violent. In turn, this periodic global warming causes atmospheric carbon dioxide to increase. Climate change causes increased atmospheric carbon dioxide rather than atmospheric carbon dioxide causing global warming.

A True and Permanent Philosophy

This is a quote from Experimental Philosophy, written by Henry Power in 1664.  At the time, Isaac Newton was 21 years old.

These are the days that must lay a new Foundation of a more magnificent Philosophy, never to be overthrown; that will Empirically and Sensibly canvass the Phaenomena of Nature, deducing the Causes of things from such Originals in Nature, as we observe are producible in Art, and the infallible demonstration of Mechanicks; and certainly, this is the way, and no other, to build a true and permanent Philosophy...

What Henry Power is proposing is a philosophy based upon the study and observation of nature. This is essentially, the manifesto of Natural Philosophy.

Nature vs. Fantasy

Philosophy, as the term is now used, has been the intellectual justification for the murder of one-hundred million people in the twentieth century (these were deliberate murders, not casualties of war). And yet, the philosophies that led to this bloodshed, while taken as gospel by their adherents, were speculative in nature and were not based upon proven facts. Philosophy is a dangerous game and needs to placed upon a more solid footing before being applied to others by force.

Historically, there has been an alternative to the use of speculation in philosophy and that alternative offers a counter to the tyranny of pure ideas. Among the ancients, the speculative philosophy of Plato, from whom modern philosophy draws its inspiration, was balanced by a curriculum of "natural philosophy," the search for wisdom in the fact-based experience of nature. Aristotle, Epicurus, and Lucretius looked to nature herself for understanding and wisdom.

The study of nature. which we now call "science," has a record of success since the time of Copernicus that is only matched by the record of folly by the philosophers of speculation. Galileo and Isaac Newton were considered natural philosophers. Newton even referred to speculative philosophy as "fantasy." He was right, if it does not come from the experience of nature it comes from the experience of our fanciful imaginings.

The problem with the natural philosophers is that they branched out into their various fields of science and became excluded from the enterprise we now know as philosophy. This specialization produced great progress in scientific knowledge, but the specialists no longer contributed to the debates of the generalists.

And those philosophers who disavowed speculation never themselves became students of science. David Hume argued persuasively that experience is the only source we have of real knowledge, but he did not turn to science to gain further wisdom from its experiential approach to nature. The logical positivists remained philosophers who, while limiting the search for wisdom to facts and logic, did not become scholars of the facts of nature.

This blog site is dedicated to natural philosophy and the search for wisdom in the experience of the universe that we are a part of. Science and other sources of fact, rather than imagination, serve as our only guides.
